Home on the road away from home

Yes we are back.
The smell of fresh air, the chillaxing back and taking in different scenic views. We restarted our vanlife off locally, our beautiful Whangarei. I've lived here since 2012 and there are still places I've never seen. So for the last two weekends we packed up the van and just stopped where we wanted, then we took a trip to Auckland to drop off Shaun for the holidays, so van life the weekend away.

We also cruised it down to Auckland where you'ld expect that to be the last place I'ld want to travel, but we made sure we stopped and visited places where it kept it exciting.

 One thing I miss about the road is the sense of freedom.  There's no care in the world, it's just you the van and the road, where ever that may take you. It's taking me a while to get back into vanning, but we've made a promise that this is back to the new beginning and opening up for the new sense of our freedom. Keep tuned for where we go, changes to the van and preparing for our next holidays trip :)

Back to Van Life Part Time

Kia ora All So it's been a while since I have been living in the van or even out and about. We moved into a rental, 1. Because my son wanted his own room and comfort of a house and 2. I wanted comfort of a home over Winter. We moved into our home in January by the beach. Beautiful home but notice the difference in paying rent. Still I did say we would van life till my kids said enough. But now we have the luxury of living next to the water and weekend get aways in the van. Exciting News, we will be doing weekend getaway every fortnight out in the Camper, traveling our north doing the freedom camping where I will document everything here. Capturing our beautiful natural country. With the van just fixed we are getting set this weekend to have a night away. Life of well-being is now the focus where I will still be saving for our own piece of paradise but travel our weekends on a budget. Van Life is so Freeing. Stay Tuned :)

Making my Caravan my Home

The caravan has been an ongoing evolution of redecoration since moving into it 7 months ago. From it's unique but standard caravan to making it into my safe haven called home.  The caravan originally could sleep up to two people, with a bunk bed at the back end and then the kitchen table props up to the two benches making it another bunk bed.  The caravan in its original state My son's first night on his bunk bed (He may not look like it in this pic, but he was super excited) Before I made the double bed, I would sleep on the far bunk and my son slept by the door where the table is added to join the benches. As you can see through the pictures I have made a pull out tiny double bed and put my own personal touches in this space. Again it has changed slightly and will probably do so again as I work around how to make it comfy but yet usefully efficient. The double bed is a slide out and basically a plank of wood with filing cabinets to support the base....

My Garden while I'm Caravan Living NZ

When I was living in my house, the one thing I was really proud of was my little garden I would get ready around this time of year for our Spring and Summer vegetables.  Now living in my caravan and camper on the road, other than herbs there wasn't a way to garden, and growing your own saves you so much money over the Christmas New Years season. This is where I had to think outside the box???? My work, we have a back part, not beautiful, never used, just sits there.  So I asked my work, do you mind if I start planting vegetables in a portable pop up's out the back. Yay, my work were stoked, and looks like it could become a thing. Giving up the house life doesn't mean you have to give up on everything you had, you just have to get creative.  I've started off with two planters, with a bit of lettuce, parsley, kale, silverbeat, just to kick it off.  Next week it will be potatoes, tomatoes, cucumber and more.  I'm even going to try a little herb ga...
