Weekend Getaway

Image
Life has been busy with the settling in at our site, work and life. Luckily Spring is here and instead of cleaning, working and being home we got into our blue camper to get away this weekend. So the North we travelled, gathering our kaimoana and freedom camping. Well we paid $5 for a park at the Kaitaia RSA. Just a snippet of this weekend 👌

Moved to our Site in Northland So we moved onto a Site which makes it a whole lot easier to go to work, school and home without having to move every couple of days. Much more lovely than the other park we tried a few weeks ago. This site is a little gem. So still on the save to buy land I have gained knowledge with the camper and caravan that maybe now we should save for a caravan first, that's a bit bigger and includes a shower. It's all learning and adjusting but I can say I quite enjoy our little space where I can grow some veges before Christmas. There will be update along the way of changes but for now enjoy my pics 😊

Winter Time Challenges Van Life I do adore my van life, and eventually I will get to save, but although it can be romantic, or a romantic idea of taking your home where ever you want to go, there is the challenges of the winter cold when your not hooked up to power, and that horrible rain when you have to get up and out to work.  So for a week I decided to give the Accommodation Park a go :(.  Not an ideal spot, although parked and plugged in, its not a place I would let my child run about. So back on the road again we go. Thankfully fully charged we need to prepare for the cold nights. Will be insulating the windows with good old bubble wrap, fluffy socks are ready for bed and gigantic fluffy dressing gown.  Unfortunately no oven use while on the road but have the trusty gas cooker that warms the van. Tips for Winter Van Life: Insulate windows with bubble wrap Fluffy socks Thermal underwear and gear Open all curtains during the day and close before dark Lots of...

My Garden while I'm Caravan Living NZ

When I was living in my house, the one thing I was really proud of was my little garden I would get ready around this time of year for our Spring and Summer vegetables.  Now living in my caravan and camper on the road, other than herbs there wasn't a way to garden, and growing your own saves you so much money over the Christmas New Years season. This is where I had to think outside the box???? My work, we have a back part, not beautiful, never used, just sits there.  So I asked my work, do you mind if I start planting vegetables in a portable pop up's out the back. Yay, my work were stoked, and looks like it could become a thing. Giving up the house life doesn't mean you have to give up on everything you had, you just have to get creative.  I've started off with two planters, with a bit of lettuce, parsley, kale, silverbeat, just to kick it off.  Next week it will be potatoes, tomatoes, cucumber and more.  I'm even going to try a little herb ga...
